The Forthwind Offshore Wind Turbine test and demonstration site is located 1.5 km off the coast of Methil and has been established to demonstrate the next generation of offshore wind turbine.

The company , Forthwind Limited, was granted a Test and Demonstration Seabed lease by the Crown Estate Scotland and secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) from the Low Contracts Carbon Company in September 2019. 

The company secured, following public consultation, a Marine Licence  and Section 36 consent from Marine Scotland in March 2023.
